How It Works
Updated: 10 Jun 2020
How does Adventist Commons work? Please find a detailed explanation below:
Any product on Adventist Commons is available for immediate download in its original language. If the desired product is not available in your language, you can choose "Start New Translation" and begin the translation process.
When you sign up, you will choose the languages you are fluent in. You will only be able to translate into languages listed in your account settings.
TRANSLATION AND LAYOUT PROCESS
Each new translation project goes through the following process:
- Translation: Anyone fluent in a particular language can contribute to a translation and make comments and revisions. Upon completion, contributors can continue to make changes until a proofreader is assigned.
- Proofreading: Only professional translators are able to proofread a translation. Only one translator can be assigned to a project as proofreader. Proofreaders for a language will be notified when a new proofreading project is available.
- Review: Only professional translators are able to review a translation. Only one translator can be assigned to a project as reviewer. To ensure the quality of the translation, the proofreader and reviewer cannot be the same individual. Reviewers for a language will be notified when a new review project is available.
- Layouting: In the layouting phase we merge the translated text back into the original product layout and work with the reviewer to approve the final, translated product for download.
After initiating a product download you will be asked to agree to the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-ND 4.0) license. You can then select follow-up contact information from a dropdown list that will be added to your product. The final files will be send to your account email address.
PDF print files will be avaiable for digital and home printing.
